Driver who left angry note to defend parking over two spaces branded ‘entitled idiot’

There’s nothing that causes an online stir quite like a parking row.

There aren’t many things that get people quite as angry in daily life as selfish parking. Drivers who use the designated disabled spaces without a blue badge, park on the kerb, or fail to keep their vehicle within the lines spark ire from fellow motorists.

And with good reason. It can be a nightmare trying to find a good spot, especially when you are in a hurry. So when someone else has made that even more difficult for you, it can be incredibly frustrating.

And one such driver has been branded an “idiot” for their “entitled” behaviour. Not only did they park across two spaces, they had the cheek to write a note defending their actions – clearly believing they were in the right.

The motorist’s furious message was posted on Reddit in 2023, after a user noticed the badly-parked motor and snapped a picture of the note.

They had brazenly left their vehicle parked across two spots in the car park and popped a note on their dashboard justifying the manoeuvre.

Seemingly in response to a previous note, or pre-empting the inevitable backlash, the driver’s note read: “The reason I park in 2 spaces is because someone hit my car and drove off costing me £500 to get it repaired.”

Underneath, with ‘do not’ underlined twice, they added: “So do not leave a note on my window. How would you like it done to you.!!!!!”

Unfortunately for the raging motorist, Reddit users were far from sympathetic. Many slated the parking itself, while others took potshots at the hilarious note.

Evidently amused by the find, the post’s anonymous author said: “Note on the dash did not disappoint.”

And other Reddit users were also not disappointed, with the post racking up hundreds of replies. Few were on the side of the driver, with most appalled at their “entitled” parking and ridiculous note.

One person said: “If it’s ok for one, it’s ok for all, then the number of spaces is halved… Sure they wouldn’t be happy about that.”

Another joked: “No you don’t understand, it’s only ok if you’ve been crashed into in the past.”

Someone else suggested: “Maybe if you parked better, people wouldn’t hit your car.”

A fourth user added: “I’d be especially inclined to leave a note. Putting it next to their note so it’s obvious I knew…”

Someone else didn’t hold back, writing: “Idiot thinks one instance of bad luck now entitles them to two spaces.”

Mocking the note, another person wrote: “I didn’t really understand the note until I read the fifth exclamation mark. Three, even four wouldn’t have been clear enough. The fifth one completes it.”
