Total prize money is set to exceed £1.64M across 18 fixtures.

Hamilton Park are preparing for their richest-ever season with total prize money set to reach record levels, offering more prize money across less fixtures in 2025.

As they look to build on the successes of last year, the Lanarkshire racecourse have planned their richest race programme ever, with total prize money set to exceed £1.64M across 18 fixtures, having deferred a fixture to ensure that all bar one of their racedays are scheduled as seven race cards.

Hamilton Park say they remain committed to offering “a progressive, aspirational fixture list” with nearly half of their races scheduled to be run at Class 4 or above in 2025.

Ashley Moon, racecourse managing director, said: “We are excited to offer record prize money in 2025 as we continue to invest in the quality of racing here at Hamilton Park.”

This year’s programme continues to see investment in prize money at all levels, with a focus on increased rewards in their Class 3 and Class 4 races, whilst every fixture is due to be run for at least 26 per cent above British Horseracing Authority (BHA) minimum values as part of an overall programme that is 53 per cent above those same values.

Hamilton Park are delighted to once again play host to the Sky Bet Sunday Series which moves to Sunday, June 15. The focus for this year’s series has returned to its previous position of offering high-value opportunities for horses running in Class 3 or Class 4 races, with a total prize fund of £215,550.

Elsewhere in the programme there is a 10 per cent increase in prize money for the British EBF Glasgow Listed stakes, won in 2024 by Kalpana, which will now be worth £55,000, whilst the historic Lanark Silver Bell Heritage Handicap remains as their richest race of the season at £100,000. In addition the Hamilton Park 2-Y-O Series final in September will also see a significant increase, with prize money rising by 50% to £30,000.

All races will continue to be run for at least £2000 above the minimum values set by the BHA, resulting in all races being run for no less than £7000 and nearly half of the programme being run for £10,000 or more.

Mr Moon added: “Hamilton Park is overseen by a trust and as such all profits are reinvested back into the business for the good of racing. We do not distribute profits to shareholders, instead we invest in prize money and facilities to provide the best racing product that we can.
