Legendary rocker Bobby Gillespie visited Glasgow’s iconic Barras Market this weekend. The Primal Scream frontman, who is from Springburn, took a trip to the famous east end market on Saturday, leaving staff and fans delighted.
Taking to Instagram, the Barras Market posted: “Look who popped down to the market today. Thanks for stopping by Bobby.”
The popular singer was wearing a black trench coat and aviator sunglasses and beamed as his photo was taken outside one of the stalls. The post racked up hundreds of likes in just a few hours.
As reported by Glasgow Live, fans were quick to take to the comments. One simply wrote “legend” while another added “what a guy”.
One disappointed fan commented: “No way!!! I was there today!!! Gutted I missed him!!!”
Primal Scream are performing two homecoming shows at Glasgow’s O2 Academy this weekend as part of their Come Ahead Tour 2025. And someone who appears to be attending tonight’s gig commented on the Instagram post: “See you in a bit Bobby”.
The band released Come Ahead, the band’s 12th studio album, to high praise from critics and fans alike.
CLASH described Come Ahead as “another high in a career full of them.”
Meanwhile, the album was tipped by NME as “funk meets punk, with grenades in the trunk” in a four-star review.
The Barras is known to have famous faces stop by pretty often.
In November last year, James McAvoy was spotted at the market while filming California Schemin’.
Former Doctor Who and Thick Of It actor Peter Capaldi also stopped off at the iconic market in summer 2023.
In other music news, one of the founding members of Oasis regrets leaving the Britpop band after a spat. Ex drummer Tony McCarroll will watch from the sidelines as the band returns for a series of monster shows this summer.
The musician was reportedly paid £500,000 after being “kicked out” of Oasis in April 1995 following a row with Noel Gallagher. Tony says of the band: “It is a brilliant thing to be part of. I wish I was part of it. Hindsight is a great thing.
“I remember it was hard (at the time when I left), especially watching the rise of the band going on to do stadiums. One of my final gigs was at Sheffield Arena and you did think back then ‘We have made it’. From just three people watching us or two barmaids in the old days to now this. Then a silly argument and I was out of the band. I was in one day and out the next.”
Any hopes the drummer had about rejoining Oasis was crushed earlier this month by leaked news that Beck drummer Joey Waronker would be joining the Gallaghers on tour, alongside Andy Bell on bass, with Gem Archer and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs on guitars
